Series 2 in the Nostra Aetate 60th anniversary series…

Our second event in the Nostra Aetate 60th Anniversary celebrations series will be uploaded to the Bat Kol International website in June.

In this series we offer you the opportunity to view three videos presented by Fr. David Neuhaus SJ in which he reviews:

1. The history and development of Nostra Aetate.
   Fr David reviews the text and language of Nostra Aetate and the mission we have in regard to our engagement in dialogue with people of other religious faiths.
2. In this talk, Fr David focuses on Nostra Aetate No.4, the longest section of Nostra Aetate, which deals with the relationship of the Church with the Jewish people.
   This presentation will include a dialogue session with Dr. David Lubinski, a member of the South African Jewish community.
3. Fr. David’s third presentation looks closely at section 3 of Nostra Aetate which speaks of the relationship of the Church with Muslims.
   This presentation includes a dialogue session with a Muslim woman, Hakima Haithar, the deputy director of the Jesuit Refugee Service regional office for Southern Africa.

Series 3. October 2025, Nostra Aetate celebrations

We are happy to announce that Dr Philip Cunningham and Dr Adam Gregerman, both of St Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, will be our guest presenters for the third series of our Nostra Aetate celebrations.

In this series of presentations each presenter will talk about Nostra Aetate with a focus on its impact; on the way this groundbreaking document has changed the way Christians (Dr Cunningham) and Jews (Dr Gregerman) have responded to Nostra Aetate. How has Nostra Aetate changed the way the Church has dealt with historical issues, including supersessionism.

In their third video of this series, Dr Cunningham and Dr Gregerman will dialogue as they discuss the positives, which we celebrate, and the challenges that still remain to be resolved.

Series 3 will be uploaded to the Bat Kol International website in October 2025.
